Q. Can AMPs access files from the NIMAC?
A. Yes, but only as an agent of an Authorized User (AU).
Q. What does it mean to access NIMAC as an agent of an Authorized User?
A. That means an AU at an Instructional Resource Center, for example, can choose to assign a NIMAS file to you to convert into an accessible format, such as braille. You may not select and choose files on your own to download, but must have those files assigned to you by the AU.
Q. Do I need to do anything else to work with the NIMAC?
A. Yes, you need to register with the NIMAC. During registration, you will provide contact information for your agency AND sign and return a limitation of use agreement (LUA).
Q. How do I register?
A. You complete a registration form via the web. The system will email you a Limitation of Use Agreement (LUA). Sign the LUA and mail a hard copy to the NIMAC.
Q. What happens next?
A. Once the NIMAC receives your LUA, your account will be activated. The system will email you a message with your user id and a second message with your password. With these, you may log on to the NIMAC and download files that have been assigned to you.
